Explore This Abandoned Chinese Fishing Village Via Drone

This ghost town sits on the Chinese island of Shengshan where back in the 1990s, due to decreasing fish supply and competition with nearby Shanghai, the town's population vanished.

These days, the only residents of this forgotten town consist of vines and wild animals. Together, Shanghai-based photographer and videographer Joe Nafis and his photographer friend Dave Tacon went to explore and document the overgrown place.

“Using the drone to explore the village first was a good idea as the paths were not well maintained and overgrown,” Nafis says. “Some of the buildings were in tatters, while others looked like they were going through a remodel. It was all very strange. On the Sunday there were a few tourists, about ten to fifteen, and then on Monday we were the only people in the village other than the three to four that still lived there.”
